Role: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Contract
Location: Atlanta, GA; Remote

About the Role:

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Pivot Originals, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and resiliency of our internal services. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners, you will drive improvements in availability, observability, and incident response. You’ll also look for ways to proactively identify potential sources of instability in our distributed systems and promote best practices in reliability and resilience throughout the organization. Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of managing incidents for internal services, driving them to resolution with a focus on quick restoration.
  • Enhance the availability and reliability of our internal services by implementing automation and tooling to reduce human toil.
  • Analyze complex distributed systems, identifying areas of potential instability, and contribute to reliability and resilience strategies.
  • Advocate for reliability and resilience practices across the organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, collaborating effectively to ensure operational excellence.
  • Work closely with project teams to diagnose operational challenges and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and implement an incident management lifecycle.
  • Utilize aggregated signals to gain deeper insights into user experiences, providing valuable input for business decisions.

Skills and Experience:

  • AWS Certified and familiarity with microservices architecture.
  • Experienced in setting up and supporting large production environments.
  • Proven experience with operating complex sociotechnical systems at scale.
  • Familiarity with containerization, fail-over, disc resiliency, and load balancers.
  • Expertise in incident management and response, driving quick and effective solutions during critical situations.
  • Knowledge of site monitoring, availability and SSL certificate generation.
  • Familiarity with enterprise software applications such as Slack & GSuite.
  • Strong collaboration and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to grow expertise, influence others, and share knowledge.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/Node.js.

Compensation:

At Pivot Originals, we are committed to fair compensation practices. This role currently pays $35/hour in total compensation.
